HONG SAN SI TEMPLE

It's hard to walk by a Chinese temple and not stop in or at least notice the place. Bright red brickwork, elaborate carving, gold accents. Hong San Si temple has all the good features.

Built around 1840, this Hokkien Chinese temple which is dedicated for Hokkien child deity Kong Teck Choon Ong, is so beautiful and very unique with its design and architectures. It was the most elaborate of the Chinese temples seen in Kuching and features elaborate dragons on its roof.

In 1993, the temple was declared as one of the historical building under the Sarawak Cultural Heritage Ordinance.
